Dogma is an American film about a woman who is summoned by an angel to prevent two fallen angels from re-entering Heaven, and thusly destroying all universal existence…
This film was just totally ridiculous. I loved the entire story, and the way that the heavenly creatures were so written into normal society, i.e. all angels wearing a hoodie, or the 13th apostle wearing a bowling shirt, was fantastically funny!
I am not religious myself, so I may not have understood some of the deeper, more symbolic ideas represented in the film, but I loved watching with a comedic approach, and it certainly delivered, as the entire story was completely farcical, and all of the characters were just such opposites that their conflicts were extremely entertaining.
Overall, this gets a 8.4 because it was a hilarious story, coupled with brilliantly funny scenes, and stupidly inappropriate characters for the job in hand, plus a fantastic twist to much of common belief at the end!
