Grease is an American film about a two high school students, Danny and Sandy who meet during the summer, however they surprisingly encounter one another again once they discover that they are at the same school.
Ok, I admit that this film has its right to be a classic, as it is a fairly original story and musical production, so there’s nothing wrong with the acclaim it has received since its release.
However, for me, I found this really boring to watch. Yes, it had quite a fun and happy atmosphere, which made it a little more pleasant, but throughout the story didn’t seem to develop right up until the last 5 minutes or so, meaning that it just seemed like nothing really happened in my opinion.
I’m also not the biggest fan of musicals, they just feel awkward to watch for me. Obviously, the songs in this weren’t that bad, and very catchy, hence their fame over the last 35 years, but the main problem I found with these either very emotional or overly happy songs popping up in the middle of scenes was that they were just too cheesy, and the way in which they broke up parts of the film for long periods of time made me lose interest quickly.
Overall, though, I’ll give this a 6.8, because it was fun(ish) to watch, although the whole thing was quite cheesy, irritating and boring for the most part.
