Dumb And Dumber is an American film about two idiotic men who travel across America first in a sheepdog-shaped van, and then a small moped to Aspen, where one’s true love awaits him, however a few things go wrong along the way…
First things first, this film was absolutely idiotic. The main two characters were so stupid it was unbelievable, the story was predictable and annoying and the majority of the comedy was not really that hilarious, being so stupid.
Having said that, this film was evidently meant to be as annoying as possible, and it definitely succeeded in that, and it was actually a pretty good film for the sort of simple, and relatively entertaining comedy that you don’t hurt yourself laughing over, but is still good enough fun to watch all the way through.
I have to also say that Jim Carrey was born to play the role of Lloyd, one of the stupid friends. I’ve thought in the past that he overacts quite a bit too much, and is very irritating to watch on screen, but to me, he fitted perfectly into this role, and along with his companion being the more brain-dead one, it was pretty clever in that respect.
Overall, I’ll give this a 6.7 because although there were some funny and entertaining parts throughout, it was extremely irritating to watch the whole way through.
