Run Lola Run (Lola Rennt) is a German film about a woman who has 20 minutes to find 100,000 Deutschmarks in order to prevent her boyfriend from trying to steal it by robbing a local shop.
This was such a cool film! I thought it was extremely entertaining, had a fascinating story, was extremely clever and very original.
The thing about this film is that it is basically all about a woman running. I think about 15 minutes of this film was probably made up of scenes with the main character, Lola running as fast as she can to save her boyfriend, and although that may seem like a tedious and repetitive concept, it was actually really exciting to watch.
Also, this film impressed me by how immediately engrossing it was for me to watch. What seemed like a fairly simple story at the beginning was rapidly fascinating, and after a massively unexpected plot twist about a quarter of the way in, it got more complicated, yet just more intriguing and brilliant to follow.
Overall, I’ll give this an 8.9 because it was an extremely clever, yet simplistic film, as well as being massively entertaining all the way through, and it was especially original.
