Cool Runnings is an American film based on the true story of a group of Jamaicans who become the first Jamaicans to compete in a bobsleigh team at the Winter Olympics in Calgary ’88.
This was a fun film, and as it was a Disney production, all of the seriousness was taken out of it, however Disney also made it extremely cheesy, and the comedy and jokes became overly predictable.
Obviously, it was an entertaining story, and I was fascinated about how it was actually true, which helped me to be more interested in it, and I also thought that the actors playing the Jamaican novices were very good.
On the other hand, the fact that nearly every scene and line of dialogue was almost as Disney-esque and cheesy as possible brought down my overall impression of the film, so it’ll get a 6.8.
