Where Eagles Dare is an American film based on the novel written by Alistair McLean. It is a fictional story about a troop of Allied soldiers who travel to Germany during WWII to take out a large Nazi HQ in the mountains.
It annoyed me that this was not a true story, as I struggled to understand it as well as if it were, however there were points in it in which it was quite interesting, and the fighting was very good.
I was initially confused about some of the characters’ sidings, suspecting some of being spies for no reason, but all became clear towards the climax of the film, which was sadly 158 minutes away from where I started, so I struggled to keep full attention.
The cable car scene at the end of the film was quite cool, and it was very enjoyable to watch, however it did not make the overall plot and movie any more exciting, so that’s why it gets a 6.
