The Hunt For Tony Blair is a one-off episode of Channel 4’s The Comic Strip Presents… It is about a prime minister of Great Britain who is charged with murder, but he tries to escape from the grip of the Met, and a large chase ensues…
Firstly, I have to ask why Stephen Mangan was chosen to play the role of Tony Blair. He doesn’t look anything like him! However, he was still very funny, and put a good voice on as the ex-PM, so that was good.
I also enjoyed the way that this film was presented, as an old 1950s crime detective mystery, which was occasionally a little confusing mashed up with 2003, but it was still quite clever.
However, I think that this was often a little boring, and although the satire was very clever and good, there was no real blatant laugh-out-loud comedy to enjoy a lot, which was a little disappointing, so that’s why I’ll give it 6.9.
