Star Trek Into Darkness is an American film, and is the follow-up prequel to the 2009 film Star Trek. It is about the huge manhunt lead by the Starship Enterprise to find one man who is classified as a weapon of mass destruction himself, resulting in a galactic battle to bring him to justice.
I’ve never been a huge Star Trek fan, I much prefer Star Wars, but this film was pretty cool indeed. You have to commend the makers of Star Trek for making it so exciting, and making the worlds that they travel to so much grander, and as I have noticed; Star Trek seems to be on a much larger scale than Star Wars…
I saw this at the iMAX in 3D, and that just made it even cooler, and for once, the 3D was not actually annoying; they got it perfectly right! In terms of the main story of the film…Meh. The story wasn’t that great, but it didn’t really matter, because it was still exciting to just watch all of these spaceships and space battles go on.
It’s also really weird to see Benedict Cumberbatch play a baddie. I’m used to either seeing him as Sherlock or Martin from BBC Radio 4’s Cabin Pressure. However, he did a fine job as a ruthless and evil baddie, whose voice was absolutely chilling…
Overall, though, I’ll give this a 7.7, because it was really cool to watch, with fantastic special effects and drama, even though it didn’t have the best storyline in the world.
