The Switch is an American film about a man who, at his best friend’s pregnancy party, when drunk ends up switching the sperm samples for the future baby, and when the baby is born, it is actually his son, completely unbeknown to the mother.
This film was really weird, and I have to say that it took quite a while to get going. The first part of the film, in which the main characters discuss the concept of having a baby by a sperm donor was pretty boring and predictable, and not actually that funny.
However, when time goes forward 7 years, and the baby is now a fully grown child, the story gets a lot funnier, with Jason Bateman’s character desperately trying to get the kid to like him, while it appears that Jennifer Aniston is struggling severely with this child who appears to be a little messed up, which I thought was brilliant.
Overall, this gets a 6.6 because it was a pretty funny film, and although it was a completely obvious storyline, with the ‘big twist’ at the end coming as no surprise to me, it was on the whole a very enjoyable film to watch.
