The Woman In Black is a British film about a lawyer who goes to a small town, where he finds that in a large mansion out on the marsh, there lies the terrifying ghost of an old woman who is causing havoc in the town nearby.
No. This film was absolutely pathetic. I had heard from some of my friends that this was absolutely thrilling, as well as horrifying, but it was neither! The story was so dull I nearly fell asleep halfway through, the woman in the house was not at all scary in my opinion, and all of the ‘tense’ moments in the film just left me laughing at the stupidity of the whole situation.
I have to say that I do think that Daniel Radcliffe is not a very good actor at all. I’ve never seen Harry Potter or anything like that, but his performance in this was appalling! He failed to portray any real sense of fear in my opinion, and the whole ting just seemed like a bad play because of him.
In terms of the horror aspect of this film; there was absolutely none. It was so predictable when the jumpy bits were going to come, so they weren’t jumpy at all, and I spent the whole film just criticising everything this film had to offer.
You could see how hard, though, this film was trying to be really scary, and be a classic horror film, but it failed spectacularly in my opinion, because it was just total and utter rubbish, and that’s why I’ll give it a 1.8.
