Christmas With The Kranks is an American film about a man who, after deciding to skip Christmas to have a holiday with his wife, has his daughter return from her own holiday unexpectedly, forcing him to quickly put together a holiday celebration.
Well, this was pretty much to be expected. I’m just going to put it simply: on the whole, Christmas films are rubbish. They’re cheesy, the comedy is usually awful, and there’s never anything particularly special about any one of them.
And, unsurprisingly, this was no exception to the trend. The main thing that I didn’t enjoy about this film was the fact that all of the characters were taking Christmas so seriously. I could see the joke that was trying to presented, but for the most part, it was more irritating to see than funny.
The story was completely predictable, and the worst thing was that a whole neighbourhood came together to SAVE CHRISTMAS, despite the fact that a man had completely renounced it, but of course that doesn’t matter, so that made me completely lose interest in the story once everyone started being nice to each other.
Despite all the negatives though, I have to admit that what the man did to save money by skipping Christmas was absolute financial genius! Of course, I love Christmas, but I thought that what he did was absolutely brilliant.
Overall, I’ll give this a 5.2, mainly because it was a typically cheesy and unfunny festive film, that was nothing special or different.
