Submarine is a British film that follows the life of a teenage boy in Swansea, Wales, who goes through a difficult relationship with a girl at school, while also spying on his mother, who he suspects of having an affair.
This film is written by one of my favourite comedians, Richard Ayoade, and I could see his influence and comic genius throughout this film. Everything initially seemed to be extremely depressing, and yet a delightful story came out in the end.
The film had such a dark atmosphere around it, and I think that that was what made it so funny, as it was just too normal to be an exciting film, however at points it did actually become too normal, and a little boring, which occasionally made me lose interest.
Overall, this gets a 7 because it was indeed very enjoyable and hilarious, however it did slow down too much at points to keep a constant interest throughout.
