New Jack City is an American film about a drug dealer who rises through the ranks of his gang, and becomes a megalomaniac leader, however his troop has been infiltrated by a young police officer intending to stop him at all costs.
Well, this film was really boring to watch. That may sound vague, but that is basically the most accurate description I can give of this movie.
The problem was it had a messy and overly complex storyline, with random outbursts of violence that had no relation whatsoever to parts of the story, making it somewhat irritating to watch, due to the lack of consistency in the film.
There was no part of this film or its plot that could properly grab me, and pull me into this grungy and violent world of city gangs and drug dealers, leaving me feeling disappointed at it while watching the remainder, further worsening my opinions on it.
Also, although it may seem trivial, this movie had many minuscule, yet extremely annoying features. Firstly, the soundtrack was so annoying that it really took my focus away from the film itself, and secondly, it was majorly composed of side-on and radical camera shot, something that I feel makes a viewing experience very sour.
Overall, this gets a 4.7, because it had a boring story, with poor consistency within, as well as many aspects that made for an extremely unpleasant viewing for me.
