The Dark Knight Rises is an American film that follows the events 8 years on from The Dark Knight, when a terrorist named Bane invades Gotham City, turning it against the Police Force that finished the crime there before, but only Batman can still save Gotham from total annihilation.
Well, this was a very entertaining film. Perhaps not as good as The Dark Knight, but that’s incredibly difficult to live up to, however I thought that it was still an exciting and action-packed film that was a fantastic way to finish off this epic trilogy.
I felt as if this was the slowest of the three films, and not as mad as the previous one, but the story was a lot more central and complex, which I found very interesting to work out as it went along.
Also, I think that the villain Bane was just what this series needed, as he managed to place the sort of monstrous, ruthless, and seemingly unbeatable touch that perhaps the other films had been missing, so that was a very good thing to see.
There was an hour-long period in the film in which neither Batman, nor Catwoman actually appeared, and this was during the time in which Bane had already taken over Gotham, so the story didn’t really develop at all, so I did feel quite bored in that time.
Overall, though, I’ll give this an 8.2, because it was mostly exciting and action-packed, with a good story, and definitely a fantastic way to finish off a brilliant trilogy.
