Get Smart is an American film about a spy analyst who is promoted to be a field agent, and alongside the experienced Agent 99, he must prevent an enemy Russian agency from bombing an important event in an attempt to assassinate the President.
I have to say that the first part of this film (i.e the first 60 minutes or so) was not very funny at all. There was occasionally a very funny joke, but the rest of it was clichéd, preposterous, and had very basic comedy, not to mention the fact that the story was completely predictable from the start.
It seemed as if the first part was taking itself too seriously, while still being extremely farcical at the same time, which was definitely not a good mix, however towards the end of the film, it all got a lot better.
The story became a little more interesting as it all got more action-packed, the comedy was much improved, and it was on the whole a lot more enjoyable to watch, as it finally had the fun qualities that I expected from this sort of spy-comedy film genre.
Overall, I’ll give this a 6.4, because it was extremely unfunny and boring at the beginning, however it was really good fun to watch by the end of the film.
