Bee Movie is an American film about a young bee who, after meeting a human and discovering that the human race is using much of the bees’ own honey, decides to sue everybody to get the honey back, however it leads to complications.
This was a very odd film. Firstly, it was initially irritating to watch, as it was pretty obvious, and there were way too many unfunny bee-related puns, however as the story developed, it got a little better, but it still wasn’t great to watch.
The main problem that I had with this film was the strange conflict between a children’s sort of film, and a more adult comedy, as the overall impression was that it was for 6 year olds, while the majority of the actual comedy in it was more complex and meant for adults.
Also, there were way too many serious themes for this film to be funny enough, such as a lengthy litigation process, many confusing plot twists, and most of all, an evident demonstration of the environmental theme of the importance of bees as they are disappearing in our lives.
Overall, though, I’ll give this a 5.1, because I thought it was just too confused with its own atmosphere that it was not really pleasant to watch, and as well as that, it wasn’t that funny, and I wouldn’t recommend this to either young children nor adults, it doesn’t fit into either category.
