The Royal Tenenbaums is an American film about a family of former child geniuses who reunite for the first time in decades after their father reveals that he is suffering from a terminal illness, and he wants to meet his family once more.
If I had to describe this film in one word: surreal. This is such a weird film to watch, because everything just seems so depressing, but you find yourself laughing throughout, at people’s depression, which sort of seems wrong, but that’s the whole point.
The comedy in this film was excellent, and I really enjoyed watching this film, as well as witnessing how crazy and different every single character was, especially the odd relationship between brother and sister Richie and Margot Tenenbaum, which was extremely weird.
Although it was a very enjoyable film to watch, it did seem a little dry at points, and just too surreal to keep laughing all the way, but despite that, it was still enjoyable, and because of that, I’ll give it a 7.4.
